Community Service
Eagle County Health Service District’s vision is to care for our community using the highest emergency medical standards while seeking continuous improvement in proactive community service.
In the late 1980s the District was one of the first agencies in Colorado to introduce automatic defibrillators to the community’s first responders by placing the devices on fire trucks. Today the District has 24 AEDs placed in eastern Eagle County.

Child passenger safety has become increasingly important as the variety of new vehicles and new car seats makes correct fit difficult. The District holds a monthly inspection station for education and installation of child car seats.
Senior wellness checks offer our staff an opportunity to visit monthly senior luncheons and discuss health and wellness, including blood pressure, blood sugar level and pulse oximetry evaluations, for citizens in McCoy and Minturn.
Local ski race, bike race, triathlons, high school varsity football game, and VIP medical coverage is provided for eastern Eagle County. In addition, we offer special event medical coverage consultation ( PDF 75k) for any event to determine necessity for medical coverage.
Youth ambulance tours, educational school programs and “911 summer camp” offer children of all ages insight into first aid and safety for emergency situations.
