YOUTH ACTIVITIES
Providing education, prevention and familiarization of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in a non-emergent situation is Eagle County Ambulance District's goal for kids. We have several programs in place which are aimed at providing this education for children of all ages and are partnering with other county emergency agencies to present various programs that focus on injury prevention.
In participation with National Safe Kids we visit local preschools and elementary schools and give presentations on topics such as occupant safety in motor vehicles, bike helmet use, and 911 access in an emergency.
Snow Safety Rangers is a partnership program with Beaver Creek Ski Patrol and other county public safety agencies that promotes the skier responsibility code and helmet use among the county’s elementary school children. This is accomplished through school presentations and staffing of a safety booth during the Skier Safety week at Beaver Creek mountain.
"Camp 911" is an eight hour day camp that provides middle school children with the knowledge, skills and understanding of how to handle an emergency situation calmly and effectively in the absence of adults.
We attend local high school career fairs to help inform youth of job skills, employment requirements and preparatory opportunities available to them before and after they graduate from high school.
Periodically we also provide presentations on first aid and CPR for babysitter safety classes, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and driver's education classes.
